Controls, menus and the remote

Trackball, keys, menus and pairing the Bluetooth controller.

You will spend more time with the trackball and a handful of keys than with any menu. Learn what they do and where the settings live.

At a glance

  • Trackball moves the cross-hair cursor
  • GAIN and RANGE have + and - keys
  • Main menu: User Prg, Sonar, Sounder, System
  • Long-press MENU/ESC to leave a menu

About 6 minutes. Part of Run the CSH-10.

The control unit

The SCU002 control unit has a trackball that moves the cross-hair cursor on the screen. The unit contains a motion sensor so vibration does not cause false movement. If the trackball stops responding, change the position of your hand or fingers.

The keys you use constantly

  • USER PROG selects a registered user program, a saved set of settings.
  • GAIN raises (+) or lowers (-) the gain.
  • RANGE increases (+) or decreases (-) the range.

Software function keys appear along the bottom of the display when you put the cursor there. What each one does is shown on screen, and it can differ between installations, so read the labels rather than trusting memory.

The main menu has four entries: User Prg, Sonar, Sounder and System. Select an item, pick the tab in the sub menu, choose the setting, then confirm by pressing the key or rotating the trackball. A long press of MENU/ESC leaves the menu. The 21 adjustable settings in the User menu are explained in Furuno's Explanation of User Settings, and the next lessons walk through them.

The wireless controller

The SCU001 Bluetooth controller is optional. If your boat has one, it has to be paired with the CSH-10, and Furuno's annual service list asks you to check that it operates well and that its batteries are free of corrosion. Furuno publishes a short video on registering the remote controller; it is linked below.

Furuno USA publishes these CSH-10 videos. They play from YouTube when you press play.

This lesson summarizes Furuno's public documents in our own words. Limits and settings differ by model and software version, so your own manual and your installer have the last word. OmniCSH is an independent project, not a Furuno program.
