Echo average and the smoothing settings steady a flickering picture, at some cost in fast detail.
At a glance
- Echo average: 0 to 11
- Smooth echo range: 0 to 5
- Smooth echo circular: 0 to 5
About 6 minutes. Part of Tune the picture.
Echo average
Adjusts how quickly an echo rises and how long it lingers on screen, from 0 to 11. Furuno says to set it so the target is clearly visible. A faster rise may let some weak noise echoes show.
Smoothing
Smooth echo range (0 to 5) smooths the image by distance; smooth echo circular (0 to 5) smooths it by bearing. Raise either for more smoothing.
Using them
A little averaging helps you watch how an echo moves. Too much blurs the edges of small, fast targets. As with the filters, change one thing at a time.

This lesson summarizes Furuno's public documents in our own words. Limits and settings differ by model and software version, so your own manual and your installer have the last word. OmniCSH is an independent project, not a Furuno program.
