The CSH-10 has three different filters that clean the screen. They work differently, and all three can erase a small mark if you push them too far.
At a glance
- Noise suppression: 0 to 10, removes weak echo like plankton and sea clutter
- Noise limiter: 0 to 10, suppresses low-level colors
- Signal level: 0 to 31, removes selected colors
- Noise suppression ship: 0 to 10, own and other boats' noise
About 8 minutes. Part of Run the CSH-10.
Noise suppression
Reduces weak echoes such as sea clutter, plankton, distant bottom and propeller noise, while leaving stronger fish school echoes unchanged. Raise it to clear the screen. Furuno warns that unnecessarily high values can erase small wanted echoes.
Noise suppression ship
Suppresses echoes caused by your own boat and by other boats. A higher value gives more effect. The clip level at each distance is set in the System menu.
Noise limiter
Suppresses low-level colors and has little effect on high-level ones. Furuno compares it to the clutter function on some of its fish finders. Raise it to suppress more low-level color.
Signal level
Removes selected colors from the display, 0 to 31, in the way the older FSV series did. Raise the value to show fewer colors and lower it to show more.
A safe way to tune
Change one filter at a time with a mark you know is real on screen, and watch whether it survives. If a filter removes it, back off a step.
